About Us

We are a team of specialist domestic abuse advisors, working in partnership with a range of agencies to safeguard and protect victims of domestic abuse.

Safe2Speak offers support to any resident of St Helens who is a victim of domestic abuse, whatever your living situation.

We have been providing the locally commissioned domestic abuse service since 2011. Safe2Speak offers the following services:

  • Safe2Speak Community Based Support – Domestic Abuse Outreach & IDVA services
  • Safe2Speak Refuge Accommodation
  • Safe2Speak 24hr Helpline
  • Safe2Speak Programme
  • Safe2Speak Professionals Training

Safe2Speak is an inclusive service in recognition that anyone can be a victim of domestic abuse, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, socio-economic status, sexuality or background.

Our services are voluntary, informative and offer trauma informed non-judgmental specialist support to anyone experiencing domestic abuse of any kind: sexual, physical, emotional, economic, psychological.

We have specialist practitioners across all service offers including:

  • Specialist domestic abuse practitioners – including Domestic Abuse Outreach officers and Independent Domestic Violence Advisers (IDVA’s)
  • Risk Identification Officer
  • MASH IDVA – a domestic abuse specialist based within the Children’s Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub
  • Court IDVA – a designated practitioner supporting local victims of domestic abuse navigate criminal and civil court systems
  • Building Resilience IDVA – co-located role with Change Grow Live Building Bridges team supporting victims of domestic abuse with a range of intersecting support needs/circumstances.
  • Refuge Key Workers
  • Resettlement Officer – supporting refuge residents resettlement journey’s
  • Refuge Co-ordinators

We will:

  • Support anyone that is affected by domestic abuse regardless of gender-identity, race, religion, beliefs, or sexual orientation
  • Empower anyone affected by domestic abuse to make informed, safe choices
  • Aim to educate individuals, children, families, professionals and communities about domestic abuse and provide an understanding of healthy relationships
  • Strive to end every form of abuse.

One to one advice

Our qualified and highly experienced team provide emotional, practical and safety support for all victims of domestic abuse. This includes guidance through the Criminal Justice and Civil Court systems.

Safe2Speak Programme

The Safe2 Speak course is a tailored information sharing group programme for anyone over the age of 16 who is experiencing domestic abuse.

The programme is currently under redevelopment for 2025.

A waiting list is in operation – professionals can refer clients onto the Safe2Speak Programme by completing the specific referral form, accessible here

Safe Accomodation

We offer refuge space for single people and families escaping domestic abuse. The address is confidential. Our specialist staff provide residents with the support they need to be free from fear and feel safe away from the person they feel at risk from.

24 hour helpline

The 24 hour domestic abuse helpline is operated by trained staff to provide advice, guidance and emotional support to victims of domestic abuse.

Training courses

Safe2Speak deliver training to professionals to raise awareness of domestic abuse and its impact.

We currently deliver two training courses available for local professionals

  • MERIT & MARAC training
  • Domestic Abuse: The Impact on the Child
